Matthews Playhouse Mainstage Productions features titles that are typically family focused, but select production titles can also be geared towards adults or young people. These shows have open auditions and feature actors from around the Matthews region. MAMMA MIA!

Set on a colorful Greek island, the plot serves as a background for a wealth of ABBA songs. A young woman about to be married discovers that any one of three men could be her father. She invites all three to the wedding without telling her mother, Donna, who was once the lead singer of Donna and the Dynamos. In the meantime, Donna has invited her backup singers, Rosie and Tanya.

PINOCCHIO

February 21st - March 1st

This version of Pinocchio takes a new twist on a favorite classic. Pinocchio is a member of a travelling troupe of performers who encounter all of the well known and loved characters like: the blue fairy, the fox and cat, an energetic cricket who help him make the good and bad choices he is well known for. Pinocchio was created by Geppetto and must save him from imending doom to become a real boy. Audiences of all ages will enjoy the smart dialogue and surprise ending to this hip and hilarious version of the traditional tale.

GUYS AND DOLLS

June 12th - 28th

Set in Depression-era Times Square, Guys and Dolls tells the overlapping stories of high-roller Sky Masterson, who falls in love with mission worker Sarah Brown, and lovable rapscallion Nathan Detroit, engaged for 14 years to Miss Adelaide, a headliner at the Hot Box Club. Nathan runs a famous floating crap game, and an ongoing plot line involves his quest for a safe place for the game as Adelaide continues her quest to convince him to marry her. Meanwhile, Sarah tries to fight her affection for the charismatic crapshooter.
