Music, Drama, Dance, Laughter and Plenty of Animals are at the Heart of Matthew’s Playhouse 2022 School of Theatre Productions
For the first time in two years, our School of Theatre students will have the opportunity to showcase their talent and skills they have learned and practiced in the MPH theatre classes this year. To say we are excited about this would be an understatement! “If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that the performing arts is a wonderful way for young people to feel more connected to themselves and others,” says Managing Director Sarah Baumgardner. “It gives them a safe space to explore, be creative, build confidence, and learn important life skills, such as self discipline and teamwork. These are lessons that are difficult to learn in a virtual classroom.”
The spring productions performed by our School of Theatre students each year are part of a long-standing tradition at Matthews Playhouse. They are an important part of our mission to enrich the lives of children, adults, and families by inviting them to participate in performing arts and education. It warms our hearts to hear the variety of joyful sounds our kids are making as they rehearse and prepare to take the stage!
**We’d like to give a big shoutout to our School of Theatre Show Sponsor, Queen Bee Mosquito Control and to our Non-Profit Partner, Bright Blessings! Please consider making a contribution to our Supply Drive to support Bright Blessings, March 16th- April 3, 2022. Donations can be dropped off in bins located in the front lobby in the Matthews Community Center, the 2nd floor and directly in front of the theatre. **

Some of our School of Theatre students have gone on to do national tours, film and television, and even Broadway, like MPH Alums, Atticus Ware and TyNia Brandon! You never know which up-and-coming star you may see in one of our performances! As always, it is a joy to produce quality family productions, offer educational opportunities, and partner for fun events for everyone in our community.
