Matthews Playhouse Haunted Trail Returns October 27-29 With More Fun & Frights

Updated: Oct 17, 2023

Annual Haunted Trail Features Spine-Chilling Brothers Grimm Tales with Plenty of Frights, Food Trucks, Family Friendly Activities, and More - October 27-29, 2023

(Matthews, NC)— Matthews Playhouse of the Performing Arts is pleased to present its 5th Annual Haunted Trail, a spooky outdoor experience, behind the Matthews Community Center October 27-29, 2023. The popular event is a fundraiser for the theatre’s Sponsor-A-Student and Scholarship Funds that aim to make the performing arts more accessible to members of the community.

Matthews Playhouse Production Director and Haunted Trail Coordinator, Cassie Prodan, says those who walk the Haunted Trail this year will experience new effects with even darker Brothers Grimm tales and scenes. “This is our 5th year presenting the Haunted Trail to the public, so we wanted to go big to commemorate the occasion,” says Prodan. “Our staff and volunteers have been hard at work preparing new storylines and characters based on the Brothers Grimm tales with plenty of spooky effects. We can’t wait for folks to experience this.”

A kid-friendly version of the Haunted Trail will take place during its "Not-So-Spooky" Hour each evening from 5:30- 6:30 pm. All are encouraged to wear their costumes and enjoy local food trucks, a bouncy house, Trunk-or-Treat, crafts, children’s activities and more. The trail will then transform into its signature "Full-Fright" Experience from 7pm-10 pm. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Parents are urged to use their best judgment when bringing younger children.

Tickets to enter the trail are $10 per person and will be available at the gate. Limited edition Haunted Trail T-Shirts, Hooded Sweatshirts and other merchandise will be available for purchase during the event.

The nightly schedule is as follows (and is subject to change).
