Acting Foundations for Adults

Offered: Fall 2024, Mondays September 9-October 28, 2024

Fee: $200/per semester

Class Description:

Are you curious about acting? Whether you’re new to the craft or an experienced performer onstage or screen, this course can help you expand your skills. Throughout this course, you willl earn or refresh fundamental performance skills by discovering how to use your voice, body, and emotional life to cultivate an active character on stage.

Who Should Join

- Beginners looking to build a foundation for performance while sharpening their acting
toolkit.
- Experience actors looking to refresh skills and break free from habits.
- Non-performers seeking to cultivate a new hobby or become more comfortable with
public speaking.

Mondays

Classes meet once a week on the following dates and times:

Fall Semester

Day/Time: Mondays @ 6:30pm-8:30pm

Week to Week Schedule:

- 9/9: Getting To Know- Stanislavski's Principles, Open Scene Assignments

- 9/16: Open Scene Work- Viewpoints, Meisner, Open Scene Sharing

- 9/23: Script Analysis- Objectives, Tactics, Beats, Introduction to Staging, Scenes (or Monologues)

- 9/30: Initial Scene Reads/Text Work

- 10/7: Scene Work: Initial blocking & Objectives

- 10/14: Scene Work: Bold Exploration (Laban & Big Bad Actor)

- 10/21: First Showings with Constructive Feedback

- 10/28: Final Rehearsals & Performance with invited friends and family audience
