Class Schedule

FALL: Classes held the weeks of September 9 - December 19, 2019 (14 classes)
       ***NO CLASS THANKSGIVING WEEK***

WINTER: Classes held the weeks of January 6 - February 13, 2020

SPRING:  Audition for one of the School of Theatre productions.

  • Auditions February 17 or 18
  • Rehearsals for the spring shows February 22 - April 5, 2020
  • Rehearsals will be held 5 days a week - (Mon. Tue. Wed. Thu. Sat.)
  • Performances of the shows the weekend of March 27 or April 3, 2020.

Tuition

$400 for the school year (20 weeks)

$100 production fee to participate in the Spring shows 


Acting 3

Grades 3 - 5

Thursdays  6:30 - 7:30pm

Tuition: $400

This class will include an introduction to improvisation, character creations, and creating an ensemble.  The focus is on showing the 'Who' through voice and movement; showing the 'Where' by how one relates to the space; showing the 'What' by creating and solving a conflict during a scene. Both structured and split second improvisational skills will be taught.

Acting 4

Grades 5 - 7

Mondays  5:00 - 6:30pm

Tuition: $400

This class will continue with advanced improvisation and continuing to work on creating a trunk full of characters.  The class will use current events to create a news show, reality show, improv videos and snapchats while advancing the skills in short form improvisation.  Long form improvisation will be introduced.

Acting 5

Grades 7 - 9

Tuesdays  5:00 - 6:30pm

Tuition: $400

This class will focus on stage movement using techniques and activities from renowned directors and theatre movement teachers.  Class will continue to work on improvisational skills and honing those skills to create five to ten minute improvised plays.  Short scripted plays will be analyzed, rehearsed and performed using Chicago's Neo-futurist plays and adapting their 30 plays in 60 minutes.  The Alexander Technique will be introduced, and audition techniques for monologues and cold readings are also included in this class.

Acting 6

Grades 9 - 11

Tuesdays  6:30 - 8:30pm

Tuition: $400

This curriculum for level six includes continued work on at least three of the following:

  • Alexander Technique
  • Audition techniques
  • Scene work using various acting techniques including for example: naturalistic, commedia dell'arte, absurdist, immersive and acting for the camera.
  • Advanced stage movement using techniques and activities from renowned directors and theatre movement teachers.
  • Continued work on improvisational skills and honing those skills to create five to ten minute improvised plays.
  • Playwriting

Acting 7

Grades 10 - 12

Mondays  6:30 - 8:30pm

Tuition: $400

  • An advanced acting and performance company for youth focusing on the seven C's of performance and life learning:  Character building, Collaboration, Creativity, Community service, Current affairs, Critical thinking and Citizenship.  Level 7 students will rehearse and perform a one act play to showcase their talents at the end of the twenty weeks.  During the twenty weeks, the class will advance their studies in at least three of the following:
  • Alexander Technique
  • Improvisation
  • Stage movement using Anne Bogart's Viewpoints and other techniques
  • Classical and Contemporary scene work using the Stanislavski technique
  • Directing
  • Audition techniques
  • The Business of Acting
