 Class Schedule

Placement Auditions: August 29 or 30 at 6:30pm
Sign up on the website for an audition time. (Only Musical Theatre 6 & 7)

 

FALL: Classes held the weeks of September 10 - December 14, 2018
       ***NO CLASS THANKSGIVING WEEK***

WINTER: Classes held the weeks of January 7 - February 22, 2019

SPRING:  Audition for one of the 4 School of Theatre productions.

  • Rehearsals for the spring shows March 4 - April 14, 2019
  • Rehearsals will be held 5 days a week 
  • NEW THIS YEAR - Actors will be allowed only 2 conflicts during the rehearsal period
  • Shows perform the weekend of April 5 or April 12, 2019.

Tuition

$400 for the school year (20 weeks)

$75 production fee to participate in the Spring shows 



Musical Theatre 2

This advanced beginning class encourages beginning students to explore their world through acting, singing, dancing and imagination.  Students are introduced to musical theatre through creative drama and ensemble games, songs and dances.


Musical Theatre 3

Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm
 
This class is for beginning and intermediate students to learn the fundamental skills of musical theatre in a fun and supportive environment. Students tackle the art of acting, vocal work, choreography, stage directions and stage blocking. 


Musical Theatre 4

 Wednesdays 5:00-6:30pm
 
This class is for advanced beginning and intermediate students to learn the fundamental skills of musical theatre in a fun and supportive environment. Students tackle the art of acting, vocal work, choreography, stage directions and stage blocking.  Class will begin learning how to audition and perform in a musical.


Musical Theatre 5

Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm
 
This class will begin to build the foundation for performance skills using the P's and C's of acting, singing and dancing:  (projection, pronunciation, posture, character, creativity and courage).  This class incorporate scene work, improv, character development, vocal direction and choreography. Actors will work with a choreographer, drama coach and musical director to perfect their performance skills.


Musical Theatre 6

Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm

Musical Theatre 7

Mondays 6:30-8:30pm
 
This level is for advanced students seriously considering a future in the arts. Classes are designed to challenge students to strengthen their technique and expand their skill set in musical theatre. Class will perform a Musical Revue featuring musical numbers from the last 5 years of Tony award winning musicals for their final class. Students will be allowed to participate in 1 of the 4 School of Theatre productions in the spring.  A placement audition is required for this class.  Please bring sheet music and prepare 18 measures of a song from musical theatre for your audition.

  • Scholarships +

    Partial scholarships are available for Summer camps and will be considered up until May 1st, 2018.  Please contact the Playhouse prior to enrolling in a class, you will be given instructions on enrolling and securing a spot for the class.  Please complete the

    Scholarship Application Form

    and follow the submission guidelines. 

     

  • Refund Policy +

    Cancelations are accepted until 3 weeks (21 days) prior to start of class or camp. If you are unable to cancel at least 3 weeks before the class or camps first day, no refunds will be given. Prior to that time you may receive a refund minus a $25.00 administrative fee.  This $25.00 fee also applies to any changes in class registration not initiated by Matthews Playhouse.

  • Waiting List +

    Full Classes will allow for "Waiting List" enrollment.  The waiting list requires all the same steps as above with the exception of payment.  You will be notified via e-mail and phone call if a position becomes available.  If a position does become available you can make your payment by logging onto the website and going to Account Information Menu and "Your Enrolled Classes"  where you see the "Pay Now" button.

  • 1
